This landmark commitment marked a decisive shift away from practices that cause immense suffering to birds showing that high fashion and compassion can walk hand in hand. Elephant Freedom Pledge: Redefining Entertainment Without Exploitation
After learning from PETA India that elephants used for films, televisions, advertisements and other content are forcibly separated from their families, endure abusive training methods, and are chained when not in use, 22 leading filmmakers and production houses including John Abraham, R Balki, Daggubati Suresh Babu, Farah Khan, Dia Mirza, Nikkhil Advani, Pooja Bhatt, and others signed PETA India’s Elephant Freedom Pledge, committing to leave real elephants out of films and advertisements. Wellness Forever Stops Sale of Cruel Glue Traps
India’s third-largest pharmacy and lifestyle chain, Wellness Forever, removed cruel glue traps from over 400 stores after PETA India’s appeal. The decision followed similar actions by major e-commerce platforms and 32 states and union territories. Glue traps are trays coated with sticky adhesive that ensnares small animals, who can suffer for days before dying.

While, actor Riteish Deshmukh was named Best Vegan Style Icon, Jacqueline Fernandez’s faux fur look in Raid 2 won Best Vegan Fashion Moment. Impactful Vegan Billboard Campaigns
In 2025, PETA India took the message of compassion straight to city streets across the country through a series of bold, thought-provoking vegan billboard campaigns that reached millions. Challenging deeply ingrained dairy norms and highlighting the cruelty inherent in dairy production PETA India’s World Milk Day billboard asked, “If You Wouldn’t Drink Dogs’ Milk, Why Drink the Milk of Any Other Species?” and Cow Appreciation Day billboard urged the public to swap paneer for tofu with the message “Tofu Is a Cow’s Best Friend,” sparked nationwide dialogues. For World Vegan Month (November), eye-opening billboards near colleges and universities carried the message “She Did Not Consent,” drawing parallels between consent conversations on campuses and the lack of consent experienced by chickens exploited for meat and eggs. PETA India erected a powerful Dandi March inspired billboard campaign across multiple cities, ahead of Gandhi Jayanti. Rooted in the principles of ahimsa, the campaign invited the public to take action by signing a petition for stronger animal protection laws.
NS GAIA X PETA India: Reimagining Fashion’s Future
PETA India’s collaboration with N&S GAIA at World Fashion Week used immersive storytelling via VLGE to redefine the role of animals in fashion. By placing compassion at the heart of creativity, the collaboration viewed animals in fashion as muses and sentient beings, rather than as materials sourced at the cost of their exploitation and death.

Worldwide, PETA entities paved the way to a compassionate tomorrow with their landmark wins which included leading auto manufacturer Renault committing to go leather-free, eliminating animal-leather interiors across its entire range of vehicles by the end of 2025 and fashion giant C&A banning leather and newly plucked down from its extensive textile range. Retail giant SHEIN banned fur, wild-animal skins, and exotic feathers after talks with PETA US. Meanwhile, Bengaluru native and PETA France activist Natasha Garnierv was kept in police custody for 24 hours for organising a peaceful protest exposing the cruelty to animals that Hermès contributes to, outside their fashion show during Paris Fashion Week.
