‘End Speciesism,’ Say Chicken, Goat, and Cow on New PETA India Billboards

Posted on by Shreya Manocha

In honour of World Day for the End of Speciesism (26 August), PETA India is serving up some food for thought for people across the country, courtesy of new billboards in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Pune that show a chicken, a goat, and a cow urging the public to end speciesism. The national campaign denounces the belief that – despite their extraordinary talents, abilities, and intelligence – all other animal species are inferior to our own and that it’s acceptable to exploit them.

Because of human prejudice, highly social primates are caged alone in laboratories; billions of chickens, goats, and others are hacked apart in slaughterhouses every year; cows and buffaloes are crammed onto severely crowded vehicles, transported to be killed, and then turned into shoes; and elephants are beaten in order to force them to perform in travelling circuses.
