PETA India celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Beatles-themed brunch at Taj Palace, Delhi. Retired Chief Justice of India and PETA India’s Most Influential Vegan 2024 award winner, Dr D.Y Chandrachud, his wife Kalpana Das and daughters Priyanka and Mahi were present as the guests of honour. Leather-free fashion designer Rina Dhaka was also among the attendees. Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA entities worldwide, gave a talk on animal sentience and how all animals matter, no matter how big or small. Recently, Dr Chandrachud, his wife Kalpana Das, and their daughters starred in a video for PETA India. In it, they shared they are a vegan family, inspired by their daughters’ kindness.

“PETA India has done remarkable work in the last 25 years, and what began as just a small movement has now spread its wings across India and beyond. We recognise that we have an important role in spreading compassion, love, and kindness, and remember that the other species on this planet have so much to teach us.”—retired Chief Justice of India Dr DY Chandrachud, who was the guest of honour along with his family at PETA India’s 25th-anniversary celebration.

“Dr D.Y Chandrachud and his family lead the nation by example with their steadfast commitment to vegan living and animal protection. PETA India are honoured to have them by our side to celebrate 25 years of PETA India achieving victories for animals.” – PETA India Director Poorva Joshipura.
