PETA India Billboards Urge Cities to End Speciesism

Posted on by Krithika Pradeep

During Vegetarian Awareness Month (October), PETA India is serving up some food for thought for people across the country, including in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and other major cities, courtesy of new billboards that show a chicken, a goat, and a cow urging viewers to “#EndSpeciesism”. The national campaign denounces the belief that – despite their extraordinary talents, abilities, and intelligence – all other animal species are inferior to our own and that it’s acceptable to exploit them.

Because of human prejudice, highly social primates are caged alone in laboratories; billions of chickens, goats, and others are hacked apart in slaughterhouses every year; cows and buffaloes are crammed onto severely crowded vehicles, transported to be killed, and then turned into shoes; and elephants are beaten in order to force them to perform in travelling circuses.
