‘Dog’, ‘Cat’ and ‘Bird’ Supporters of PETA India Distribute Free Water Bowls for Community Animals in Indore and Raipur
Supporters of PETA India wore giant community animal masks and gave free water bowls in Indore and Raipur to highlight the importance of helping animals avoid heatstroke and dehydration amid soaring temperatures.

PETA India is encouraging everyone to make clean drinking water available to community dogs, cats, birds, and other animals, especially in the scorching heat. Community animals endure many hardships, and the simple acts of kindness, like placing a bowl of fresh water outside, will go a long way toward providing relief.
Unlike humans, dogs mainly sweat only through their footpads and cool themselves primarily by panting. Birds, which do not have sweat glands, rely on various behaviours to cool themselves. High temperatures can cause heat stress and even result in death. On the streets of India, animals face numerous challenges – including hunger, abuse, and accidents – and many dogs and cats end up in shelters. Purchasing animals from breeders or pet shops and keeping companion cats and dogs unsterilised only exacerbates the homeless-animal crisis.
PETA India encourages everyone to keep animal companions indoors when temperatures are high and never to leave them inside parked cars, where they can succumb to heatstroke within minutes.
