Dogs are Delhiites, NOT ‘Strays’—PETA India’s New Billboard Campaign Reminds Citizens It’s Their City, Too!
Following alarming cases of cruelty to community dogs and their feeders in Delhi-NCR, PETA India has erected a billboard in the city with an impassioned plea to protect these dogs and treat them with kindness — because, after all, they are born-and-raised Delhiites, too.
Community dogs are naturally intelligent and sensitive and they are just trying to survive in the city, just as we are. They deserve kindness as much as our human neighbours do. PETA India urges the public to watch out for canine members of our society and to report any cruelty immediately to PETA India or other animal protection NGO and the police.
The billboard is located at Main Tilak Marg outside Patiala House Police Station, New Delhi, 110001 and will also appear on auto hoods, buses, and metro station in Delhi.
In addition to effectively implementing the sterilisation requirements under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, PETA India urges authorities to shut down pet shops and breeders who are not legally registered and to encourage adoption from the city’s overcrowded animal shelters.
Every time someone buys a dog from a breeder or pet store, a homeless animal loses a chance at finding a loving home. PETA India also urges guardians to have their animal companions sterilised so that puppies who have already been born have the best chance at finding a good home and living in comfort and safety.
