Mumbai – The nominees had barely been posted for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2012 contest before Rush hottie Neha Dhupia and Teri Meri Kahaani star Shahid Kapoor started raking in the votes. Hot on their heels in the contest are Sonu Sood, Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor and Hema Malini.
Dhupia, who first made an impression around the world when she was crowned Femina Miss India and landed in the top 10 at the Miss Universe pageant, recently, shot a pro-vegetarian ad for PETA that will be released in 2013. And Kapoor – who was named PETA Asia-Pacific’s Sexiest Vegetarian Man for 2011 and PETA India’s Sexiest Vegetarian in 2009 – starred in a sizzling ad campaign for PETA India (available here) that read, “Chicks Love a Vegetarian”.
“There’s no easier way to put passion into your life than to put compassion into your diet”, says PETA India Chief Executive Officer Poorva Joshipura. “Going vegetarian is the best way to help animals, the environment and your health – and as PETA India’s roster of hot vegetarian celebrities shows, there’s no easier way to stay slim and sexy.”
In addition to causing animal suffering on a massive scale, eating meat and dairy products has been conclusively linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer and obesity. And a recent United Nations report concluded that a global shift towards a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change.
PETA India will announce the winners – who will be selected based on several factors, including vote count – in January. For more information and to cast your vote, please visit PETAIndia.com.
