PETA India Launches ‘Awaaz’, an Endearing AI-Powered Robot Goat, to Speak Up Against Killing and Champion Vegan Eating
Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to build empathy, PETA India has unveiled ‘Awaaz’, an endearing child-like robot goat who speaks to encourage compassion for goats and inspire everyone to leave them in peace, not in pieces. In a new PETA India launch video, the realistic-looking robot goat engages in gentle, interactive conversations in English and Hindi, asking children and other passersby: “Do you consider me a friend… or food?” Awaaz will be visiting college campuses and city centres to engage with members of the public across the country. PETA India aims to create more vegans and encourage slaughter-free expressions of sacrifice with Awaaz’s help.

Goats form strong bonds with each other and remember those who treat them kindly. Yet for slaughter and sacrifice, goats are crammed into severely crowded trucks bound for slaughter, where many suffocate or suffer broken bones. At slaughterhouses or during roadside slaughter, their throats are cut while they’re still conscious and in full view of other terrified animals.
Each person who goes vegan spares the lives of nearly 200 animals every year and reduces their own risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Raising animals for food is also a leading cause of water pollution and water and land use, and a United Nations report concluded that a global shift towards vegan eating is necessary to combat the worst effects of the climate catastrophe.
