Media and Celebrity Projects Assistant

Position Objective:

To assist department staff members in ensuring the smooth operation of PETA India’s media and celebrity projects

Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Pitch PETA India’s campaigns and events to the media and make follow-up calls as needed
  • Coordinate the preparation of news releases, pitches, media statements and soundbites
  • Build, maintain and manage all contact databases for the media and celebrity projects team
  • Manage a calendar of special dates and tasks related to media and celebrity projects
  • Maintain an orderly inventory for media and celebrity project needs
  • Keep all media and celebrity files and folders in an orderly and accessible condition
  • Develop strategic target lists for media coverage
  • Liaise with PETA India and PETA entity staff as required regarding the production of print advertisements, video public service announcements and other needs
  • Research celebrity-related news and create and distribute notes to relevant staff members
  • Research and suggest contacts for photo shoots and other projects
  • Maintain a collection of news clippings and send them to concerned persons in a timely manner
  • Liaise with PETA entities regarding various services relating to media and celebrity projects
  • Assist in the coordination of photo shoots and other celebrity and media events
  • Participate and give meaningful input at brainstorming meetings regarding media strategy and celebrity involvement
  • Prepare and maintain meeting notes for the media and celebrity projects team
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in media or public relations preferred
  • Fluent in English and Hindi
  • Knowledge of other local Indian languages a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Thorough proficiency in using common computer programs
  • Proven interest in media and celebrity news
  • Proven excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Self-motivation and the proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people in a professional and personable manner
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
