The answer is D: all of these animals. It may seem shocking, but it’s true.
Despite vast physiological and biochemical differences between humans and non-human animals, Indian regulators still require that drug and pesticide manufacturers subject guinea pigs, mice, dogs, and other animals to archaic, unreliable toxicity tests.
But PETA India is determined to end their suffering. With advice from our scientists, the government has ended some duplicative tests under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for new registrations of drugs which are pre-approved abroad. The government has made changes in the pesticide guidance document and the Indian Pharmacopoeia and is now accepting the results from more and more modern, non-animal test methods.
