Actor Neha Dhupia teamed up with PETA India again, this time to unveil India’s first vegan discount card, PETA’s V-Card, at Corniche – At the Waterfront in Bandra West, Mumbai. PETA’s V-Card initiative is supported by Burrp!
The V-Card gives cardholders a 10 per cent discount on vegan foods from special V-Card menus at numerous participating restaurants in Mumbai and Bangalore. The card – which can be ordered for free from PETAIndia.com – debuted in November in honour of World Vegan Month.
“PETA’s V-Card is a great initiative to make mouth-watering vegan meals available to the public at a discount”, Dhupia says. “I’m looking forward to trying each of the many restaurants on PETA’s list that offer delicious plant-based dishes.”
“PETA’s V-Card provides a unique opportunity for anyone to try new vegan options around the city”, says a Burrp! representative. “Burrp.com is happy to throw its support behind this new programme.”
A shocking look inside Indian slaughterhouses reveals the miserable lives and painful deaths of chickens whose throats are cut and whose bodies are dunked into scalding-hot water for feather removal, often while they’re still conscious. Other animals slaughtered for meat are crammed into vehicles in such large numbers that many are severely injured or die en route to the slaughterhouse. The animals are often hit, dragged, handled cruelly and sometimes even denied food and water.
Dhupia joins a growing list of celebrities – including Pankaj Advani, Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Shahid Kapoor, R Madhavan, Hema Malini, Anil Kumble, Pamela Anderson and Paul McCartney – who have teamed up with PETA to promote a healthy and compassionate animal-friendly diet.
