Mandira Bedi Supports Sapna’s SoFake

Posted on by PETA

Whether she’s gracing the cover of Femina or covering a televised cricket match, “pitch” perfect fashion icon Mandira Bedi makes a statement with everything that she wears. In a new PETA ad, Mandira makes a strong statement in support of leather- and fur-free fashions by striking a pose in a spiked synthetic leather jacket alongside the tagline “Sometimes It’s Cool to Be SoFake!”

SoFake is the oh-so–cutting-edge cruelty-free clothing label from fashion designer and celeb hairstylist extraordinaire Sapna Bhavnani. Founded in 2011 by Sapna and her business partner Sukriti, SoFake’s latest collection, which features animal-friendly fabrics and focuses on classic cuts and strong, structured shapes, is about to take Lakme Fashion Week by storm! “Sapna has shown very well through her designs that it’s cool to be SoFake”, says Mandira in the exclusive PETA India interview below as she talks about the stunning ad, which was shot by ace photographer Rafique Sayed and designed by Sapna. “Through her clothes, she has shown that you can have looks that kill without killing anybody.”

We say faux is the only way to go! After all, there’s nothing trendy about wearing the skins of tortured animals! Lucky for us, today’s fashionistas don’t need to be cruel to animals in order to be creative with fashion. From the mall to the marketplace, you can find a wide selection of affordable, animal-friendly fashions made from cotton, linen, ramie, jute, canvas, rayon, polyester, PVC, and pleather. So get real, and start being fake!
