Advocacy Assistant
Position Objective:
To assist, support, and help advance the work of PETA India’s Advocacy Department

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the Advocacy Department in executing operational and administrative tasks
- Conduct in-depth research to help advance campaigns
- Prepare, organise, manage, and update data regarding government offices and institutions commonly contacted for advocacy projects
- Maintain a list of members of Parliament and other government officials sympathetic to the cause of animal rights
- Support advocacy staff in drafting and dispatching letters and any other communications required
- Make follow-up calls and write e-mails as assigned
- Attend meetings as assigned, and travel when necessary to attend these meetings
- Assist teams with on-ground research and in the enforcement of animal protection laws as required
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Minimum graduate degree, preferably in a related field
- Two years’ prior work experience, ideally in a comparable role, preferred
- Fluency in both spoken and written Hindi and English (other languages a plus)
- Strong verbal and writing skills, especially in English
- Proven ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
- Excellent research skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent administrative and record-keeping skills
- Ability to think in a strategic manner
- Outgoing and personable manner
- Reliable and dependable
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel
- Ability and willingness to travel
