Action Comes Just Ahead of World Vegan Month

Hyderabad – Wearing a dress made entirely of lettuce leaves and holding a sign that reads, “Eat Green – Go Vegan”, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s lovely “Lettuce Lady” will ask Hyderabad residents to do themselves a big favour and stop eating meat and dairy products and switch to a healthy and animal-friendly vegan diet. The action comes a day before World Vegan Day (1 November) and just in time for World Vegan Month (November).

When: Thursday, 31 October, at 12 pm
Where: In front of Big Bazaar, Kachiguda Crossing (Old Maheshwari/Parmeshwari theatres), Hyderabad

“It is impossible to ‘go green’ without going vegan”, says PETA India Lettuce Lady Erika Goyal. “Just by choosing plant-based foods, people can help protect the Earth, their own health and countless animals.”

The consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products is responsible for unimaginable animal suffering. Chickens are often kept in cages so small that they cannot spread a wing, and they have their throats cut while they’re still conscious. Fish are suffocated or cut open while they’re still alive on the decks of fishing boats. And calves are taken away from their mothers within hours of birth. Eating meat can cause our health to suffer, too: the consumption of meat and other animal products has been linked conclusively to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, cancer and obesity.
