Miss Indias Show Compassion For Animals In New PETA Ad
For Immediate Release:
25 November 2010
Mumbai – Posing in stunning red gowns next to the caption, “Compassion Is Beautiful. Speak Up for Animals” the three Miss Indias (Miss India World, Miss India Earth and Miss India International) star in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, encouraging people to show kindness towards all animals.
Says Miss India World Manasvi Mamgai, “Animals depend on all of us to be their angels. Even little acts of kindness can make a huge difference in their lives. I encourage everyone to share the world with animals by always acting with compassion and reporting cruelty”.
Like Manasvi, Miss India Earth Nicole Faria adores animals. She remarks, “We owe it to ourselves to protect the other animals so that indirectly, we help ourselves”.
PETA couldn’t agree more. Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty towards animals don’t stop there; many of them go on to commit violent acts against their fellow humans. The American Psychiatric Association identifies cruelty to animals as a diagnostic criterion for conduct disorders, and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation uses reports of crimes against animals in analysing the threat potential of suspected and known criminals. Killers Dennis Rader, Dylan Klebold, Eric Harris, Andrew Cunanan and Veerappan all started out by deliberately harming animals.
Concludes Miss India International Neha Hinge, “Use your voice, stand up for what is right, and speak out against cruelty to animals. Peace on Earth begins with how we treat those who are the most helpless”.
Photographer Jitu Savlani shot the ad, and Gavin Miguel provided the styling and fashion design.
