Local Man Wins Nationwide Competition
Indore – Vaibhav Upadhyay of Indore has beaten out nine other male finalists to win People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s Cutest Vegetarian Next Door contest. The 24-year-old will be featured on PETA’s website and will receive a certificate, a sash, and a trophy.
Upadhyay is available for interviews. You can view his photo and that of the female winner here.
“My entire family is vegetarian”, says Upadhyay. “We believe the beauty of nature lies in the animals and plants. I strongly oppose harming and killing of animals and ask every single person I meet to turn into vegetarian.”
“Upadhyay is healthy and kind, and that makes him even more attractive in our book”, says PETA India Campaigns Coordinator Neerja Khede. “Whether it’s to improve your health, reduce pollution such as greenhouse-gas emissions, or spare many animals suffering and terror on factory farms and in slaughterhouses, going vegetarian is always a winning proposition.”
While the consumption of animal-derived foods contributes to a person’s risk of developing cancer, heart disease, obesity, and many other ailments, a plant-based lifestyle can give us clearer skin, help prevent heart attacks, and even reverse heart disease.
Allankrita Sarkar of Lucknow is the female winner of the competition. Winners were selected based on several factors, including vote count.
