A great Indian way to start your day

2 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp mustard seeds
4–5 green chillies, split
1 tsp urad dal
1 sprig curry leaves
1 1/2 cup suji (thick rava)
2 cups hot water
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp grated coconut

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the mustard seeds.
  • When the seeds start sputtering, add the split green chillies, urad dal and curry leaves, then add the suji and stir for 2 to 3 minutes. 
  • Add the hot water, sugar and salt and keep stirring. Keep covered and cook over a low flame until all the water evaporates. (Open once or twice and stir to prevent sticking.) 
  • Garnish with grated coconut.
