Ayushmann Plugs Sterilisation at IRFW

Posted on by PETA

What an awesome way to start the weekend! Today, Bollywood heartthrob Ayushmann Khurrana had tongues wagging when he unveiled his new PETA ad at India Resortwear Fashion Week in Mumbai. Part of PETA’s sterilisation campaign, the ad features Khurrana holding a condom in his hand next to the caption “If They Could, They Would! Dogs Can’t Use Condoms, So Sterilise Them”. The star of Vicky Donor – a romantic comedy about sperm donation – doesn’t want companion animals to “donate” sperm to anyone. That’s why he was more than happy to talk about the importance of getting companion dogs and cats sterilised. “[C]ats and dogs can’t use condoms, but we can get them sterilised and stop the overpopulation”, says Khurrana. “Of course it is very cruel to kill community dogs, and killing community dogs is not the solution because the territory can be done taken by other dogs. So, ultimately, it’s better to adopt dogs, and sterilisation is essential.”

In India, tens of millions of homeless cats and dogs struggle to survive on the streets. Many of them go hungry, are hit by vehicles or are abused by cruel people. Countless others are kept in animal shelters because there aren’t enough good homes for them. Please pledge to support and practice animal birth control by spaying or neutering (sterilising) your animal companions, educating others about the importance of spaying and neutering and never buying animals from a breeder or a pet store.
