PETA Calls for Boycott of Indian Leather

PETA India and its world-wide affiliates have relaunched a campaign to boycott Indian leather and to encourage consumers to shun all leather. This is after a failure by the government to enforce minimal animal protection laws and a refusal by the Council for Leather Exports to initiate steps to stop its members from supporting illegal slaughterhouses. The campaign has already reaped some success with two US retail giants, Kenneth Cole and Liz Claiborne, informing PETA that they will not sell leather from India.
