Campaigns Assistant

Position Objective:

To assist and support PETA India's campaign work as assigned by supervisor

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist Campaign Coordinators with coordination of demonstrations, tabling events, talks and other campaign projects
• Prepare letters and other documents for campaign projects, as requested
• Manage campaign inventory and keep leaflets and other literature up to date
• Work with relevant departments at PETA Foundation (US) and outside businesses to prepare placards and other materials for Campaign Coordinators
• Manage campaign projects independently, as requested
• Encourage and facilitate activism across India by communicating with activists and encouraging them to be active in behalf of animals
• Reply to e-mails and queries that come into PETA India's general information e-mail account
• Regularly update and maintain campaign-related databases and files
• Attend and participate in brainstorming meetings
• Help make follow-up calls to the media and support PETA India's work to keep campaigns in the media spotlight
• Prepare responses to media queries and act as a media spokesperson when requested
• Travel for campaign projects, as needed
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• Fluency in spoken and written Hindi or other local language(s)
• Computer proficiency
• Proven thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
• Passion for fighting cruelty to animals and desire and willingness to participate in provocative campaigns
• Outgoing and personable manner with exceptional communication skills
• Exceptional organisational and time-management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skillsMust be a self-starter who can handle multiple tasks at the same time
• Ability to deal patiently with activists and other contacts
• Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA India's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA India's positions on issues
• Must adhere to a vegan lifestyle
• Ability and willingness to travel, as neededCommitment to the objectives of the organisation
