Reports to:Chief Functionary
Position Objective:•To coordinate fundraising activities in India, including but not limited to major gift work and fundraising events as well occasional assistance to the direct mail programme •To update PETA US and PETA UK staff on PETA's programme and fundraising efforts in India
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:•Coordinate donor events for PETA members and supporters throughout India •Coordinate the production of event materials and mailings (eg, invitations, sponsorship forms, programmes and thank-you letters) •Recruit volunteers and solicit in-kind contributions of goods and services for events •Act as the liaison between PETA and PETA members, including providing information, as directed, to those members and responding to their requests•Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of major donor contacts in database •Conduct background research to develop member profiles•Support the needs of senior staff in preparing for donor meetings and attend donor meetings as requested •Research and identify India-specific fundraising opportunities•Develop strategies and timelines for making successful in-person solicitations and effectively managing major donor relationships •Stay up to date on current fundraising techniques and methods used in the non-profit sector and attend professional training seminars •Stay current on animal rights issues in general and maintain a clear understanding of and ability to articulate the objectives and details of PETA programmes •Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications: •Prior fundraising experience preferable•Ability to work independently and use discretion in confidential matters relating to donors •Ability to respond quickly to donor needs •Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and be flexible •Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills •Ability to work cooperatively with multiple departments•Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues in India and beyond •Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
