Fundraising Coordinator

Position Objectives:

  • To coordinate fundraising activities in India, including but not limited to major gift work and fundraising events as well occasional assistance with the direct mail programme
  • To update PETA Foundation US and PETA UK staff on PETA’s programme and fundraising efforts in India

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate donor events for PETA members and supporters throughout India
  • Coordinate the production of event materials and mailings (eg, invitations, sponsorship forms, programmes and thank-you letters)
  • Coordinate corporate giving initiatives (eg, gifts in kind, financial, sponsorship)
  • Research and coordinate workplace giving opportunities
  • Serve as contact for all fundraising database needs, including record maintenance of contacts
  • Act as the liaison between PETA and its members, including providing information, as directed, to those members and responding to their requests
  • Conduct background research to develop member profiles
  • Support the needs of senior staff in preparing for donor meetings and attend donor meetings as requested
  • Research and identify India-specific fundraising opportunities (eg, telefacing, telemarketing)
  • Develop strategies and timelines for making successful in-person solicitations and effectively managing major-donor relationships
  • Stay up to date on current fundraising techniques and methods used in the non-profit sector and attend professional training seminars
  • Stay current on animal rights issues in general and maintain a clear understanding of and ability to articulate the objectives and details of PETA programmes
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications: 

  • Prior fundraising experience preferable
  • Ability to work independently and use discretion in confidential matters relating to donors
  • Ability to respond quickly to donor needs
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and be flexible
  • Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with multiple departments
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis PETA’s philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues in India and beyond
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
